4th of July

July 7th, 2010
What better way to celebrate the 4th of July then with lots of burritos? No seriously, a ton of burritos. Coralville, Iowa is home to the annual Panchero's burrito eating contest on the 4th of July. Once again, this event proved to be a spectacle very worthy of viewing. 15 contestants step up to the line with a common goal of devouring three enormous Panchero's burritos. The rules are simple, the first person to successfully take down (and keep down) all three burritos is the winner. This year our winner took home a years worth of free burritos, second place was awarded 6 months of free burritos and third place walked away with three months of burritos! This year, the winner was an Iowa City native named Jose Gomez with a time of 7:15. Matt Kelsay from Iowa City rocked second place with a time of 8:30 and Brandon Hyde of Fairfield took home bronze with a time of 10:30. Keep practicing and maybe one day, you too could take down three burritos in just over seven minutes.... until then, enjoy the photos!

Panchero's also had a part in the Coralville parade! Hummers were rollin' in full force on the 4th throwing out frisbees (some even had free burrito cards taped to them!) We had a ton of fun being apart of the Coralville 4th of July celebration and want to thank everyone who came out to help make it awesome!

Let me know what your favorite part was in the comments.

July 2 Trivia Winners

July 2nd, 2010
Well, apparently Twitter didn't want to cooperate with us today. Sorry to all those who had trouble accessing Twitter trivia this afternoon. We did have the contest though, and three winners rose victorious in the end!
Check the video for all the details and to see who won.
Also, why are free burrito cards taped to the bottom of a Frisbee? Find out in the video!
Thanks for Playing!

July 4th Burrito Eating Contest (Coralville)

July 7th, 2009
For the third year in a row, Coralville, Iowa was the home to a burrito event unlike any other (except in Orlando). The fourth of July Panchero's burrito eating contest! Contestants pit their stomachs against each other in an attempt to be the first person to successfully devour three whole Panchero's burritos. Congratulations to our winner, Walter Kelly from Iowa City, home of Panchero's, (coincidence?) who had a time of 5 minutes and 15 seconds. Walter received a year supply of free burritos from Panchero's. Hopefully not all of them are consumed in one sitting. Second place, with a time of 5:28 was awarded to Kevin Ozeroff, also of Iowa City, he took home  six months of free burrito goodness. Third place, coming in with a time of 6:51 was Daniel Eisenberg of Muscatine, Iowa.

July 4th Burrito Eating Contest (Orlando)

July 7th, 2009
I can think of no better way to celebrate America's independence then by attempting to slam down three Panchero's burritos faster than the person next to you. And that's exactly what these guys did in Orlando, FL this year.

The Contestants!

This year, Orlando hosted it's first ever burrito eating contest sponsored by Panchero's. I've never seen someone attack burritos the way these contestants did! Personally, one burrito is quite enough to satisfy my appetite; but not for the winner, Mike from Orlando, he managed to down three burritos in under 5 mins! I can't tell if I'm impressed or slightly disturbed, decide for yourself.

There can only be one. Congratulations, Mike!

Thanks to everyone that participated and made the event possible. It looks like a good time was had by all.
